They have both different gameplay although both a rpgs.

If you like more "control" try Assassin's Creed 2. I'm currently playing that and it is awesome.

DA on the other hand is more of strategy rather than the hack and slash. Story-line's great and I've even got the expansion.

Assassin's Creed 2 has only 14 chapters though so its shorter.
Get both used, they're pretty cheap. You can find them for $30 each or less.

Gameplay is much different. Dragon Age has a deeper rpg element, basing itself off of the more common D%26amp;D style of gameplay when it comes to character creation %26amp; battle sequences, and has a more linear storyline (while there's multiple character classes with varying stories, each story follows more or less a linear path). The game is, however, compelling and there's a lot to do (side missions, exploring, then the main story itself).

Assassin's Creed 2 has more of an open world platformer feel, in that you're running around deciding how to best proceed through the game. The AC series (i guess it's a series, now that there's two) is also widely known for stunningly beautiful graphics and impressive attention to detail. Playing the AC games is almost like interacting with a movie.
