I have decided that im going to get Dragon Age. Never played any of them, i played the demo for the 2nd one and thought it was real cool, but that's it. I am more of a create-a-person-do-the-story-kill-things type gamer and that's why i think Dragon Age would be good for me. I played Mass Effect 2 and LOVED it and Dragon Age looks similar to that.

which one should i get? (i know the 2nd one hasn't come out yet)
I like me a good story, and i dont really want to get confused and stuff and play them all out of order, but i played ME2 and not ME1 and still understood the story perfectly. So really im looking for the one with the best gameplay/graphics. I saw a video of the Origins one and everyone was talking about how good of a game it is and how much they like it. So i was leaning toward origins really. But if you think that the 1st one is better then please let me know! Also, could you tell me why you think so? I dont want people to just say 'Origins is wayyyy better', i want to know why.

first of all. there's Dragon age: Origins and then a expansion called dragon age: Awakening
there is also many other Down loadable content with alot of things to add on to dragon age. you need to have dragon age: origins in order to play Awakening. now there is Dragon age 2 but i don't know anything about that one. i would recommend just buying Dragon age: Origins and playing threw that cause its really fun.
the first one you will be able to create your own character and change his background story but it lacks the graphics of the second one my best bet would be too wait until the second one because the company made it so you dont have to play the first one to play the second one and the graphics are 100 times betterDragon Age 1, Origins, or 2?
Okay, I'll make this simpler for you. Currently, only ONE Dragon Age game has been released until today, and it is Dragon Age: Origins.
Awakening is the expansion pack for DA:O (you install it over DA:O). There are also many DLC packs for DA:O.
Dragon Age 2 is the one that's not released yet.
If you want to try out Dragon Age: Origins, I recommend you getting the Ultimate Edition. It'll save you the time to buy and download the DLC's/expansion one by one. This way, you'll get A LOT of content right after buying the game.
Now, for the game itself:
I'm not sure if it is what you are looking for, to be honest. Bioware tried to apply what they learnt after making Mass Effect 2 on Dragon Age 2, which is why they're somewhat similar. However, Dragon Age is a lot less action-oriented than Mass Effect. Expect lots of planning, positioning, and pausing the game if you want to play well. That's why traditional RPG fans will love it more than the others.
I, for one, loved Dragon Age as an RPG more than Mass Effect (although I like Mass Effect 2 better as a game in general). The amount of content in DA:O might intimidate you a bit too, I heard it can go up to 50 hours per character. I said I heard because I haven't actually finished it lol (23 hours and counting). If that turns you off, I assure you that every moment in the game is good (except maybe the later part of The Fade.. You'll know what I mean when you play the game.)
ok mass effect is good the reason i think it so is because of mass effect 1 every thing you do in mass effect have and mass effect 2 wil have serous actions in mass effect 3 to

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there only two games: Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2.
Some people just happen to call Origins Dragon Age 1 because it is the first game and a second is on the horizon.
But there was a heap of DLC additions for Origins including Awakening which is the story that takes place immediately following the end of Origins and actually changes a bit to reflect the decisions you made in Origins (If you played it before you played Awakening). Awakening is not a separate game but it is often treated as such because of its length and depth... It's nothing like the other bits of DLC which either added content to the main Origins story (such as the Stone Prisoner DLC or Return to Ostegar) or were short side stories (such as Witch Hunt, the Dark Spawn Chronicles or Lelianna's Song)
If you are buying the game mainly for graphics then I have played both Origins (with all it's DLC) and the Dragon Age 2 demo: Dragon Age 2 certainly has smoother and better graphics, although not by much since Origins isn't too shabby.
Storywise, we can't say for certain until we get to play DA2 later this month... I'm eagerly awaiting my copy of Dragon Age 2 (with PreOrder Bonus in-game Fadeshear %26amp; The Lion of Orlais).
But because we are following the story of a completely different hero whose story started at the same time as the Grey Warden's in Origins, it does mean that you really can jump in straight at the 2nd game. And if you liked ME2, then you're in luck because DA is created by the same people responsible for ME.
I think there are only really 2 downsides to not playing Origins:
1. It really was a very decent game with a gripping story and epic battles.
2. I'm skeptical about how well you will Truly understand Flemeth, one of the main characters in DA2 (who we got to know too well... the monster) and you'll likely never understand any of countless Morrigan-Flemeth debates/conspiracy theories flooding the web.
I would choose to get and play both only because I hate doing anything by halves. But if you can't afford both and the two downsides above do not concern you, then I would just jump in at DA2.
There is no "Dragon Age 1"
The first Dragon Age game is Dragon Age: Origins. That's the only primary title that's been released. The game also contains a myriad of DLC's as well as a full expansion called Awakening.
So it really boils down to how much content you are seeking. The base Dragon Age: Origins game is probably pretty cheap by now, but there's also been an Ultimate Edition that contains every added content. (From side stories, to an extra party member, and also the Awakening expansion.)
If you are serious about experiencing the entire storyline, then the Ultimate Edition would be the way to go. It shouldn't be that much more expensive than a new copy of Origins. Better get at it while you can, because DA2 is quite different in terms of the base rules of the game.
Rather than paying full price for DA2 the moment it comes out (it's also going to release Day 1 dlc. THANKS, EA. THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WANT TO DO, SPEND MORE MONEY ON THE GAME AFTER BUYING THE GAME.) And it's also been widely reported that DA2 is significantly shorter than DA:O. So if you buy the ultimate edition, you'll get way WAY more game. considering the base game is already longer than DA2, add in the extra hours you'd spend on the dlc content and expansion, it's good investment while you wait for EA to release more DA2 DLC's and a price drop.
