Which is better Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age: Origins?

I don't care about graphics. I care more about the story and gameplay.Which is better Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age: Origins?
Dragon Age is good, Mass Effect 2 is better. Dragon Age suffers from clich茅 story and characters. The strategic combat makes for a very hardcore and rewarding gameplay experience.

Mass Effect has a great scifi story and borrows elements from Star Trek and 2001: A Space Odyssey while also adding a lot of original new characters, storylines and locations. The gameplay can be either fast paced and Gears of War-like, but if you choose one of the strategic classes it also involves some thinking. It doesn't have the strategic depth that Dragon Age has but that's because it's a different subgenre of RPG.

Note: Only get Mass Effect 2 if you've played the first game.
Hard to say. But there is ONE difference, which makes ME2 tip the scales slightly. In ME2, your character has a voice, and speaks dialog. In DAO, you pick dialog options, but your toon never says a word.

Other than that, both of these excellent, excellent games came out of the same publishing house, BioWare and EA Games. The story for both is therefore head and shoulders above any other in either the fantasy or sci-fi RPG categories.

Both games have excellent plot driven character interaction and storylines. The writing is intelligent and the stories well done. In both games there are moments that are laugh out loud hilarious, or grim and serious. In both games you can develop friendships and personal relationships with your team, or be a jerk. Commander Shepard (ME2) is pretty funny as a jerk. The Grey Warden (DAO) is pretty grim as a jerk, and if played to the max will wind up killing or alienating members of his own party.

I have both games. Owning both is worth it, and I cannot wait for ME3 and DA2!Which is better Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age: Origins?
I have Dragon Age Origins and Love it.

But then I've always preferred fantasy to Sci-Fi.

They are both made by Bioware, so I suspect there will be similar storyline strength in each.

In Dragon Age, at least, you have huge impact on how the story plays out, with the epilouge containing tens, if not hundreds, of possible combinations.
depends

if you have played mass effect 1 then i would say to get the second sense the choices you made carrys over to the second mass effect plus a large # of dlc for that game adds to the story line

how ever if you want replay value then i would say to go for dragon age origins

3 races all with dif endings and start story lines

massive amount of chat diologe *how ever you spell that word*

down fall to dragon age is the load times tend to get bad you are force to restart the game other wise it takes like 20 min to load a zoneWhich is better Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age: Origins?
Both have very detailed, exceptional stories. The gameplay is different in each, but both are great.

You can either have a great Sci-Fi RPG, or a great Medieval RPG.
Both are highly reviewed games. Metacritic Scores:

Mass Effect 2: 96

Dragon Age Origins: 91

It's a win-win.
Mass Effect is a comic cartoony game, and Dragon Age: Origins has an actual story.
